And the winner is…..

Overall Champ for the second Redline Time Attack in a row is none other then the AMS Performance Time Attack EVO!  Driven by Mark Daddio -- But they just pulled out the win at the very end as they almost didn’t finish at all. The AMS car was troubled in the first Time Attack session with a sticky throttle body that was stuck wide open going into turn one at over 150MPH.  Heading right for the turn 1 wall, driver Mark Daddio aborted the run and had to forfeit the full Time Attack session.  Because of this, the AMS team wasn’t able to complete a full lap and had no recorded times for the first session out.  They had one more Time Attack session left in the afternoon with only three laps to get a time to qualify for any finish.  This normally won’t be any problem except for one thing… The rain came strong in St. Louis that afternoon.  It only rained for about 20 minutes, but dumped over 2 inches of water on the track leaving the track surface way to slippery for the AMS car to gain fast enough times to best the Top Speed car that was able to lay down some fast lap times in the first dry Time Attack run.  As luck would have it, the sun did come out, and just about every car at the event jumped out on track and tired to dry it down for one last Time Attack run.  With the second Time Attack still in the wet, the AMS car was able to pull off another victory with a lap time of 1:03.571

1:05.360 Top Speed - 2nd Overall

The competition was stiff as AMS had to battle with Top Speeds very fast Subaru Brighton that was fitted with an STi power plant and drive train. Luke Russell piloted the Top Speed car, and we’re told they will be back for more action at Summit Point.  With a little more shake down, we’re sure this car will be a fierce competitor.  This was Top Speed’s first showing at a Redline Time Attack, and with a time of 1:05.360 that was good for a second place overall finish, this is a team to keep a look out for.

Rounding out the top three was DTM’s new Unlimited class EVO driven by Michael Ko. DTM has taken Modified class victories at past Time Attacks.  This first Unlimited class car DTM brought out was good for a third place overall finish.  Another car that was newly built for Time Attack duty and has much more in it.  DTM and Top Speed were very close in finishing times.  It will be nice to see a rematch between these top three finishers at our Summit Point event.

Our Modified class victor goes to local driver James Elterman.  Finishing on top in the Modified class with a best time of  1:08.653 in the Nukabe/Cusco Subaru STi.  James won both his all-wheel-drive class, and overall fastest Modified class driver.  James also drove the Nukabe/Cusco EVO to an impressive time of 1:10.632 in the street class to capture top spot in the Street Class as well.  James had a double podium finish giving him the 4th and 5th overall fastest times of the day!
