Section 1. Rules Applicable to All Classes

Each vehicle entered into the Redline Time Attack, must be track ready and free from any mechanical defect.  All cars must be able to pass the technical inspection at the track to be permitted on track. The official technical inspection will be performed on each vehicle prior to being allowed to compete in the Time Attack competition rounds.

    • Use of nitrous oxide strictly prohibited
    • Propane injection systems prohibited

    • Tube Frame Chassis prohibited. Unibody must remain intact and un-altered. Certain exceptions do apply, and are referenced in other sections of these rules.

    • Stock “frame rails” may not be moved, relocated, removed or replaced. Modifications to the frame rails are limited to “notches” less than or equal to 1” into the rail, to allow for suspension and drive-train clearance and for the allowance of anchoring roll cage components.
    • Alcohol and Water Injection is permitted.

    • Aerodynamic parts are PERMITTED, i.e. Wings, Splitters, Canards, Under Trays, Diffusers, etc. Each class (Street, Modified, and Unlimited) has specific restrictions on what type of aerodynamic parts may be installed. Please refer to each Class subsection for further information.
    • Single Engine Per-Vehicle

    • Engine Modifications are allowed (forced induction, engine swaps, bolt on upgrades, etc) in any class. Please refer to specific restrictions for Street Class vehicles.
    • Suspension modifications are allowed in any class. Specific Class restrictions will be listed in each Class subsection.

    • Inboard suspension systems are not permitted, except for Unlimited Class.
    • Brake Modifications are allowed in any class.
    • Internal Combustion Engines Only (Piston and Rotary Engines Only).

    • Original factory Floor pan must largely be left in place. Certain exceptions apply, and will be singled out where applicable in class rules
    • Factory floor rear of the C pillars or rear seats may be removed and replaced with alternate material for weight savings purposes, so long as a roll cage is installed in the vehicle and a certified/approved fuel cell is also installed.

    • The rear portion of the Unibody cannot be removed in favor of a tube-frame setup. The front portion of the Unibody (in front of the firewall) cannot be removed in favor of a tube-frame setup.

    • Fuel Cells permitted (modification of factory floor pan is allowed for installation of Fuel Cell)

    • Replacement of drivers and passengers seat are permitted
    • Vehicle’s outline must be largely true to the original

    • Vehicles must be built from a model originally produced for legal street use in North America, Europe or Japan.
    • All vehicles must use tires that are legal for use on public roadways in the United States, Japan or the European Union. Every tire must have a DOT impression from the tire mold on them. All tire models used must be readily available to the North American public.

    • All cars are to use an AMB timing transponder. Drivers have the option of supplying their own AMB transponder or renting an AMB transponder from Redline Track Events. Transponders may be purchased directly through AMB. (www.AMB-it.com)
    • All cars must run decals required by Redline Time Attack organizers.  This may include doorplates on both sides of vehicle, a windshield banner, front or rear quarter panel or any other locations as specified.

    • All vehicles entered into competition must report to tech inspection at the track on the day of the Redline Time Attack event.
    • Convertibles are allowed on track with roll bars. Some cars with factory roll protection are allowed on track without the need for an aftermarket/custom roll bar if they are equipped with a factory OEM roll protection system. Check with Redline Time Attack to verify your convertible vehicle is equipped with an adequate factory installed roll protection system.
    • If a roll cage is built and installed within a vehicle, the following rules must be followed.

Minimum Tubing Sizes based on vehicle weight
(minus driver, full fuel tank):

Up to 1500 lbs : 1.375 x .095 DOM/Seamless/Alloy
1502-2200 lbs : 1.500 x .095 DOM/Seamless/Alloy
2201-3000 lbs : 1.500 x .120 DOM/Seamless/Alloy
1.625 x .120 DOM/Seamless/Alloy
1.750 x .095 DOM/Seamless/Alloy
3001-4000lbs : 1.750 x .120 DOM/Seamless/Alloy
Over 4000lbs : 2.000 x .120 DOM/Seamless/Alloy

    • Roll Cage Material Permitted:  Seamless or DOM (Drawn Over Mandrel) mild steel tubing (SAE 1010, 1020, 1025) or equivalent, or alloy steel tubing (SAE, 4130) shall be used for all roll cage structures.
    • Roll Cage General Construction:

One continuous length of tubing shall be used for the main hoop member with smooth continuous bends and no evidence of crimping or wall failure. Whenever possible, the roll cage hoop should start from the floor of  the car. An inspection hole of at least 3/16 inch diameter, but no greater than ¼ inch diameter shall be drilled in a non-critical area of the front and rear hoop as well as in one of the supplemental braces to facilitate verification of wall thickness.

Main Hoop: 4 bends max., totaling 180° ± 10°
Front Hoop: 4 bends max or
Front Downtubes: 2 bends max.
Rear hoop supports: No bends

If any of the above bend requirements cannot be met, all components of the roll cage shall be fabricated from the tubing size(s) listed for the next heavier category of vehicle.

    • Each vehicle may only compete in a maximum of two Classes per event in which the             vehicle meets the rules specifications for.
  • Protest Procedure:  Any competitor has the right to Protest another competitor on the grounds that their vehicle does not meet the rules for the Class/Division the vehicle is competing in. The Protest must be issued by another registered competitor, not a Team Owner, crew member, family member, etc. An Official Protest Form must be filled out and submitted to Redline Time Attack Event Management Staff with the appropriate Protest Fee (Street Class: $100, Modified Class: $150, Unlimited Class: $200) in cash. Upon receiving the completed Protest Form and the appropriate Cash Fee, Redline will conduct a Protest Inspection of the vehicle to determine if the vehicle meets the rules for its respective Class/Division. If the vehicle in question is found to meet the rules, the Protest Fee will be awarded to the owner of the vehicle in question. If the vehicle in question DOES NOT meet the rules, the vehicle’s lap times will be considered invalid and the vehicle’s results will be removed from the official competition records. Decisions made by Redline Staff are final, there will be no appeals.
