Section 4. UNLIMITED CLASS
The Unlimited Class is designed for full blown race/Time Attack vehicles and "super car" exotics.
Rules specific for Unlimited Class Cars:
- Lexan/Plexiglass windows permitted. Vehicle cannot be “windowless”.
- Sequential Gear Boxes Permitted in Unlimited Class.
- Custom suspension systems are permitted, allowing for the “type” of suspension to be changed. For example, if the vehicle came with a MacPherson Strut setup in the front, a “wishbone” setup can be installed in its place. Portions of the Unibody/Fender wells/etc may be altered to allow for clearance of the new suspension systems and wheels and drive train components that have been “moved” as a result of moving the suspension.
- Suspension mounting points may be moved and altered, to allow for revisions of or maintaining of the proper geometry.
- Inboard suspensions are permitted.
- Full Carbon fiber or other light weight materials permitted with no limitation.
- Factory firewall must remain intact. Exceptions to this rule would be alterations to the firewall to allow for roll cages to extend into the engine bay and for service oriented reasons (i.e., installation of custom engine/transaxle assemblies). Modifications cannot be performed to the firewall that are considered by Redline to be primarily for weight savings reasons.
- Snell 2000 rated helmet (or newer) helmet must be used.
- All drivers in Unlimited Class must wear a fire suit or a combination of a fire jacket and fire pants, with a minimum rating of SFI 3.2A/1
- All drivers in Unlimited Class must wear gloves with a minimum rating of SFI 3.3/1
- All drivers in Unlimited Class must wear driving shoes/boots with a minimum rating of SFI 3.3A/5
- All Unlimited Class vehicles must have a Fire Extinguisher mounted within the cockpit of the vehicle, within reach of the driver while normally seated, belts fastened and steering wheel in place. The mounting hardware should be nuts and bolts, not sheet metal screws, and the bracket should be metal and of the quick release type. Fire bottles constructed of plastic or aerosol-type cans are prohibited.
The following chemicals are permitted:
1A10BC multipurpose, ammonium phosphate and barium sulfate or Monnex;10BC potassium bicarbonate (Purple K) or sodium bicarbonate; Halon 1301 or 1211, two pounds minimum;ABC dry chem., two pounds minimum
- A tow hook/strap must be installed on BOTH the front and rear of the vehicle. They must be properly marked so they are relatively easy to find by the safety personnel in the event the vehicle needs to be towed off the track.
- All Unlimited Class vehicles must have an Electrical Master Switch or “Kill Switch” installed. The switch should be mounted so that it is easily accessible from outside of the vehicle. The switch should cut all power except to the onboard fire system. The switch location must be clearly marked.
- All Unlimited Class vehicles must have a minimum 4-point roll cage/roll hoop installed. Refer to section 1.22 through 1.24 for roll cage specification rules.
- Use of DOT legal tires is required. Non-DOT approved “Race Slicks” are not permitted.
- See "Vehicle Classification List" For List of Vehicles Relegated to Unlimited Class. i.e. some vehicles will NOT be permitted in the Street or Modified Class due to specific horse power or other specifications. For example, a Ferrari Enzo or Porsche Carrera GT will be relegated to the Unlimited class due to there "super car" specification.
- Some cars will only be able to compete in the Unlimited class. Depending on vehicle dynamics, some cars will be relegated to the Unlimited class, click "Vehicle Classes" for the list of vehicles relegated to the Unlimited class.
